Loretta's on the "Cool List"


Loretta is #10 (of 40) on "The Cool List" in the current (October 4) issue of SPIN... Loretta's listing reads:

Why her: On her recent album with producer Jack White, the 69-year-old Lynn sings a song about a betrayed housewife waiting to go to the electric chair for murdering her husband ("Women's Prison"). This makes her the female Johnny Cash. Or Johnny Cash the male Loretta Lynn.

What could possibly make her even cooler: Writing an entire album from the perspective of a woman going to the electric chair.

The only problem: Electrocution is no longer the preferred method of capital punishment in most states.


Jack White (#1 last year) makes the list at #11.
